I no wanna sleep!
My younger daughter has decided lately that it's time to forget how to sleep. She's two now so I guess it makes sense. Her favorite phrase at both nap time and bed time is "I no wanna sleep," followed closely by a screeched "let go!"
If you've had kids you probably know that a toddler will do absolutely anything to resist sleep even though delaying and avoiding sleep is very much against her best interests. If she understood that she is less coordinated and therefore more accident prone, more likely to get sick, less likely to have fun and enjoy playing, and disadvantaged developmentally when she got sick, she'd probably be excited to sleep.
Right?
But aren't we the same as adults? With sleep, for sure, but with so many other things too. We know we need to market our business differently, we know we need to improve our cybersecurity posture, we know we need to change our diet to maximize our health. At least, we understand those things in the abstract, but our personal inertia makes it really hard to start making that change.
A lot of people (though apparently a shrinking number) just did resolutions for the new year, but will probably "fail" because they couldn't overcome that inertia. Respond with something you know you need to work on, and one thing you can do today to start moving in that direction. Even if it's just taking a nap.
